Pueblo Magico in English means “Magic Towns”, and back in 2001 the Mexico Tourism Board started designating villages, towns, and cities throughout Mexico. Three requirements must be met to receive this honorable name, which is that the architectural style of the town’s buildings should be pleasing visually. For example, rooftops, balconies, and facades should be painted the same exact color, and there are 7 colors that have been approved by the National Institute of Anthropology and History. The second requirement is that the town or village should have their own cultural identity. Lastly, the town or village must have a village square that is attractive as well as one major attraction to promote tourism to the town or village.
