It isn’t surprising that Puerto Vallarta has been the subject of a press release issued by the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust (Fideicomiso de Turismo de Puerto Vallarta) naming it as one of the top places to retire in the world. This fact was published by the Live and Invest Overseas website from the results of the findings made by the Annual Retirement Abroad Index. It even recognizes Puerto Vallarta as coming in at second from the number 1 list, just a shade under Algarve, Portugal.

Several factors are basic when choosing the top places to retire in the world. These include security, the place’s climate, the kind of infrastructures, hospital facilities, efficient tax services and the general quality of life, wherein couples can live a decent life with a $2,000 or less monthly budget.
The Mexican destinations of San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato were also included in the list or top places to retire in the world published by Live and Invest Overseas website. Moreover, the countries of Colombia, Argentina, Nicaragua, Belize and Spain were also meritoriously mentioned.

Puerto Vallarta has a Grade A classification for its security and safety that earned the selector’s nod to name Puerto Vallarta as one of the top places for retirement in the world. The effective presence of law enforcers and their ability to speak English makes them efficient in protecting the welfare of local and foreign retirees. Also, living is not expensive in Puerto Vallarta as the average monthly cost for a retired couple is just between the $1,700 to $2,000 range.
Puerto Vallarta’s high ranking in some other departments confirmed its position of being a top notch retirement place. Factors like: ideal climate, healthy environment, great infrastructures, booming real estate, high entertainment value, easy access to recreations and the presence of English speaking professionals. Having an airport located in close distance to its center has also been given much weight in its selection.
