Presently, the size of the American/Canadian community living in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit is unknown, but with the building continually increasing with thousands of new houses and tens of thousands of new condos having been constructed, the population is sure to increase.

    Right now, around 350,000 inhabitants live in this once small Mexican fishing village and roughly 50,000 Americans and Canadians are present here at any one time during the “high season”. With these people not having to go to work they all have the same outlook, to enjoy life and benefit from their years of hard work. In the excellent climate, the challenge is to find the most enjoyable things to do and if you have good people around you, time and money, Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit have it all in abundance.

    With three new Golf courses in the planning or construction phase, that will bring the total number of courses in PV up to ten. There are countless tennis courts and of course deep sea fishing is always a popular activity. Everything from classes teaching art, dancing, computer studies and languages to clubs for cards, fitness, acting, cars, writing, in fact clubs for anything of interest to retirees is available in Puerto Vallarta.

    Another area of interest for the retired is the activities involving charities. These are undertaken by a large group of organisations such as the International Friendship Club, Becas Foundation, and Toys for Tots, Feed the Children, Make a Wish Foundation, etc. Most of us will probably take some time out for charity work, and as Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit have so many things to do daily, you can do as much or as little as you want.
